The Sassi and Murgia tour is a comprehensive experience that takes you beyond the town center to the wild heart of the Murgia Materana Park. We’ll begin by walking through the Sassi with their intricate network of caves, houses, churches, and alleyways, stopping at the most iconic spots to be enchanted by the urban landscape carved into the rock.

From there, we’ll move to the opposite side of the Gravina, where nature merges with spirituality: we’ll visit a cave once used as a dwelling or place of worship, immersed in the silence and pristine beauty of the park. From these heights, you’ll enjoy the most spectacular view of all of Matera, a unique panorama that offers authentic emotions.

Where does the tour start from?

The starting point is usually at Via del Corso 78, at the main entrance of BPER Banca. Upon request, we can pick you up at an accessible location in the historic center of your choice.

Where can we leave the car?

Here are the recommended parking lots, in order of proximity:

Sant’Isidoro car park – Via Lanera 16
Via Lucana – Blue lines (on-street parking)

Why may the price shown be different from the confirmed price?

How can I pay?

We accept cards, cash, and, in exceptional cases, also cured meats and cheeses. In some cases, we may require a deposit to confirm your reservation.

What happens if I need to cancel my reservation?

Out of mutual respect, we do not charge penalties if cancellations are communicated promptly. Reservations with a deposit paid are an exception, for which specific conditions apply.
