This tour is designed for those who want to experience Matera in a more in-depth way, with the right amount of time to observe, listen and be surprised. On board the Ape Calessino, we will explore the two oldest neighborhoods of the city: Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso, accompanied by Vito’s passionate narration.

After an initial immersion in the historic center, we will enter the Sassi, crossing winding alleys, ancient dwellings dug into the stone and breathtaking views of the Gravina. We will make a panoramic stop near the Cathedral and, along the way, we will be able to admire the Church of Sant’Agostino, the splendid Piazza San Pietro Caveoso and some glimpses that seem suspended in time.

Where does the tour start from?

The starting point is usually in Via del Corso 78, at the main entrance of BPER Banca. Upon request, we can pick you up at an accessible point in the historic center indicated by you.

Where can we leave the car?

Here are the recommended parking lots, in order of proximity:

Parking “Lucana” – Via Pasquale Vena 8
Sant’Isidoro car park – Via Lanera 16
Via Lucana – Blue lines (on-street parking)

Why may the price shown be different from the confirmed price?

How can I pay?

We accept card, cash and, in exceptional cases, also cold cuts and cheeses… In some cases, we may ask for a deposit to confirm the reservation.

What happens if I need to cancel my reservation?

Out of mutual respect, we do not apply penalties if the cancellation is communicated promptly. Exceptions are made for reservations with a deposit paid, for which specific conditions apply.

How far in advance should I book?
